iCardiac Rehabilitation, at Ennis Regional Medical Center, is an outpatient program that focuses on improving your cardiovascular health. If you have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or experienced a heart attack, angioplasty or open-heart surgery, you may be a candidate for our cardiac rehab program.
Heart health is about more than just your heart. Blood pressure, cholesterol, family history and other factors all play important roles in keeping your heart strong. If you have recently experienced a cardiac event, your cardiologist may refer you to a Phase II cardiac rehab program. Phase II refers to the program being outpatient.

The main goal of cardiac rehabilitation is to assist you in developing a personal healthy lifestyle plan, which includes physical activity, education, stress management, and nutrition. During monitored physical activity sessions, we work toward increased heart and lung capacity and overall muscle strength to give you the confidence to do the activities you enjoy most.
Your program includes supervised exercise, nutritional counseling and education about lifestyle changes that may reduce your risk of heart problems. We will review your progress throughout the process and share results with your doctor.
Cardiac Rehab at Ennis Regional Medical Center (ERMC) is medically supervised by Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS)-certified staff. ERMC Cardiac Rehab Coordinator, Dr. Kedron P. Sowells PT, DPT specializes in developing personal healthy lifestyle planning, which includes physical activity, education, stress management and nutrition. All of our team members are dedicated to helping our patients achieve their goals of improved health and quality of life.
You can be referred to the ERMC cardiac rehab program by your primary care doctor, cardiologist, surgeon or other healthcare professional.
To get referred to the program, you must have one of the following diagnosis. Then you must visit with your primary care doctor, cardiologist, surgeon or other healthcare professional to provide a referral.
Our staff will contact you to set up an appointment for orientation once they receive the information from your doctor.
Phase II is covered by most major medical insurances. Contact your health insurance about your specific situation.
